Minghang & Qingpu.
Located in Shanghai’s Western suburbs, Qingpu was one of the origins of Shanghai’s ancient civilization, and it is the definitely the oldest of all the nearby regions. Thirty years ago, archaeologists excavated the Songze site four kilometers east of Qingpu. Now known as the cradle of Songze civilization, excavations have revealed 136 grave sites in the area. The grave owners are the oldest known residents of this region, dating back 6000 years.
However, Song Culture is not what draws most people to Qingpu. People come here to see the ancient town, Zhujiajiao, and the spectacular lake and river scenery that this region is known for. Zhujiajiao is the pearl of Shanghai’s suburbs. With its small bridges and flowing streams, Zhujiajiao is steeped in idyllic and poetic landscapes. Qingpu is a vast expanse of misty, rolling waters, and it has an incredible lake, DianshanLake, where the sky and water seem to merge. DianshanLake is Shanghai’s largest freshwater lake. There are some newly constructed showplace gardens that can be found along the lakeside, but they are not entirely interesting as the lake itself. Natural countryside landscapes are the real attraction here, and a walk around the lake area is sure to make you feel happy and carefree.
The American, British, French and GermanSchool moved to this area, and many expatriate families with children to this school follow up. This area actually is an extending of Hongqiao along the Huqingping Ave, there are plenty of villa compounds for expatriate families who plan to move out from Hongqiao, with the same rental, you can double the size of house & garden here.
1.American School
Shanghai American School (SAS) offers the expatriate community in Shanghai an outstanding academic program at two locations to accommodate families who live on both sides of Asia's most vibrant city - Puxi in the city's west, and Pudong in the east. The comprehensive Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 curriculum is closely aligned between both campuses to guarantee that all SAS students receive the same high-quality education. To this end, SAS recruits highly qualified teachers and administrators, who follow the best practices in education and current research.
The two campuses have been developed to specifically meet the needs of the curriculum, with facilities and learning resources that rival those of the best international schools. Puxi (West) Campus
The 29-acre West Campus (Puxi) is located in Zhudi Town, west of Hong Qiao International Airport. The campus has separate buildings for elementary, middle school and high school students, each with large, modern classrooms, high-tech IT and science laboratories, project areas and specialized music and art rooms. The campus also boasts Library and MediaCenters for elementary, middle and high school students, a black box theatre and a state-of-the-art PerformingArtsCenter. Sports facilities include an outdoor track, extensive playing fields, three gymnasiums and an aquatic center.
Pudong (East) Campus
The 23-acre East Campus (Pudong) campus is located on the grounds of the Shanghai Links Executive Community, just north of the Pudong International Airport overlooking the East China Sea. The campus opened in 1998, and new middle and high school facilities were opened in the fall of 2005 housing large, modern classrooms, high-tech IT and science laboratories, project areas and specialized music and art rooms. A new food court, Library and MediaCenter, and Art and Science lab building opened in August of 2006 and Grade 11 introduced in 2006-2007. Since the 2007-2008 academic year, SAS Pudong has offered fully-developed Pre-K3 through Grade 12 programs. The campus is growing quickly to meet student demand and has many new purpose-built facilities, including an auditorium/gym complex, extensive playing fields, a double gym for middle and high school students and two physical educational facilities for elementary school students.)
2. British InternationalSchool
Puxi campus
The BritishInternationalSchool at Puxi features two modern extremely well-appointed campuses with separate specialist facilities for primary and secondary pupils. The primary campus has excellent facilities which include large indoor gym, fitness suite, indoor swimming pool, age-appropriate libraries, large outside play areas, 150-seat performance theatre, science labs, ICT labs and all classrooms are equipped with interactive white board technology. The custom-built secondary campus has state-of-art facilities which include an all-weather sports field, a fitness suite, a large sports hall, several computer suites, a pottery room, an extensive library, study rooms for the IB pupils, rooftop terrace and internet café.

3. French and GermanSchool
Founded in 1995, this school offers instruction for over 800 students between kindergarten and grade 12. The EuroCampus is shared between both the German and French school. Courses are conducted in German and French respectively and a range of afternoon activities help to build a strong community spirit among students.
Shanghai French School
This school is only open to French speakers,with preference for French passport holders.
Shanghai German School
This school is only open to German speakers,with preference for German passport holders.
4. Shanghai Singapore International School
The Shanghai Singapore International School (SSIS) was established in 1996 to provide quality international education to children of expatriate families in Shanghai. Privately owned by the Prime Group International and registered in Singapore, its first campus was set up in 1996 at the Sun Island Golf Resort in Shanghai's QingPu District with only 18 students and 9 teachers.
To meet the needs of its expanding enrolment, the school relocated to MinHang Campus at ZhuDi Road in MinHang District in 2001. With its growing recognition from expatriate families, a second campus was set up in XuHui District in 2003 to bring the unique SSIS education one step closer to families residing in the heart of the city, especially those from the PuDong area.
In 2006, SSIS celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a brand new campus building in MinHang, occupying a land area of 64,000m2 and the capacity to accommodate 2500 students approximately.
About the New SSIS MinHang Campus
The Main Teaching Block consists of the office block, Primary and Middle/High School teaching blocks and the Science block.
The ground level consists of the common facilities areas, including the computer labs, music / dance studio, art & design workshop, library and media centre, cafeteria, bookshop/kiosk, school clinic and reception lobby. Classrooms are located from the 2nd to 4th level. Plans are made to include the swimming pool facilities in our phase three construction.
The Outdoor Sports Zone located next to the main road acts as a buffer from the traffic noise. This Sports Zone has a running track, mini-golf area, golf driving range, fitness area and a standard-size soccer field.
The Indoor area, located between the outdoor sports zone and the school blocks, is a multi-purpose indoor gymnasium. The indoor gymnasium consists of three basketball courts.
Special Features
The Entrance Promenade provides a strong sense of welcome with its unique landscape design. A symbolic tree for the school is planted right in the heart of the promenade to mark milestones of SSIS and the growth of her students.
The Water Court is the "heart" of the Teaching Blocks, serving as a community hub where the amphitheatre becomes the favorite spot for special events and lunch time performances by students every Wednesday.
The Chinese Cultural Centre, named as WAN FANG YUAN in Chinese (万方苑), is another highlight in the campus. Down the lane, you will find a cultural classroom, XUE ER TANG (学而堂) where students attend enriching lessons to master Chinese calligraphy, tea-making and many other interesting Chinese cultural activities. As you peep into another room, QING YIN GE (清音阁) when you hear some melodious music pieces, you will see the SSIS students in action, playing the GU ZHENG (古筝), a Chinese traditional instrument. In SSIS, students are immersed in the Chinese culture through the fun and enriching way.
The SSIS Junior Golf Club is a new highlight in SSIS, officially opened in November 2007. While golf can be more than just a passion for life, the golf course is also widely recognized as an essential business platform for many successful businessmen. As such, golf was introduced as a skill for life for all our students beginning from Primary 5 to Secondary 2 in their physical education programme. To cater to the needs for the programme, the school now has a golf club, two mini-greens and a driving range on campus.
